What is the Endowment Fund?

"Every good endowment and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow to change." -- James 1:17

The St. Matthew's Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, Inc. was established at the direction of the Vestry and incorporated January 23, 1990. The Fund provides for the continuing mission of St. Matthew's Church.

Contributions to the Endowment Fund are conservatively invested by a Board of five Directors who are elected by the Vestry. The Fund will annually distribute four percent (4%) of the Fund balance, as of June 30 of each calendar year. Gifts to the Fund truly keep on giving.

Fund investments provide for the expanding mission and ministry of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church to both the Parish and to the world. Half of the unrestricted income is used for work outside of the Parish. For instance, grants have been made to Young Life and to Anglican Frontier Missions. The other half is used for emergency or unusual work inside for the Parish. For example, grants have been made for the renovation of the breezeway and the fire alarm for the education building.

Why should you give to the Endowment Fund?

"As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." -- 1 Peter 4:10

For most, stewardship of money means current income and its use. Indeed, your annual pledge to the Parish is the primary vehicle for supporting the church. However, stewardship is equally concerned with accumulated, inherited and appreciated resources and the long term support of the church. Contributions to the Endowment Fund assure that our material assets will continue to work on our behalf in perpetuity for the glory of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

How can I contribute to the Endowment Fund?

"For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also." -- Matthew 6:21

You may contribute to the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, Inc. in the form of gifts, memorials, bequests, and other donations.

GIFTS -- You may take part at any time through gifts of money, securities, or other property.

MEMORIALS -- Gifts to honor an individual are acceptable any time. At the death of a loved one, it would be appropriate to designate the St. Matthew's Endowment Fund as recipient of memorial gifts.
