Women of the Well - WOW

WOW! (Women of the Well)

Women of the Well (WOW) is an outreach program of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church to women aged 20 – 120. The purpose of this ministry is to gather women together to encourage one another, develop relationships, small prayer/study groups of common interest and mentoring opportunities. The women of St. Matthew’s and our community are invited to come together at the W.E.L.L. (Women Engaged in Laughter and Learning) for fellowship and to draw strength, encouragement and direction from one another and most importantly, from Scripture. It is a place for women to find common ground with one another and establish relationships for further prayer and study. The goal of the gatherings is to be inclusive and to focus on areas that are common to all women.

WOW brunches are currently set for Oct. 1, 2011 and Dec. 3, 2011. Please join us!

Circles

Three Circles at St. Matthew's make important contributions to our Pastoral Care ministry. St. Margaret's Circle provides spiritual support and fellowship for members and furthers God's kingdom through good works in our community and church using the talents God has given us. St. Agnes' Circle and St. Hilda's Circle perform similar ministries. All engage in Bible studies, devotional readings, service projects in and around the church and fund raising.

St. Agnes’ Circle

Meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10:30 am at various locations.

St. Hilda’s Circle

Meets the 2nd Monday of the month at 10:30 am in the Library, September through May.

St. Margaret’s Circle

An organization of approximately 30 women who meet on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm in the Library for Bible study and fellowship. The circle conducts several fundraising projects each year that enable us, with the support of the congregation, to provide financial support to the young people of our congregation and other outreach projects. New members are warmly welcome.

Annual Retreat

Held March 2011

Saturday, March 26th was a day of worship, growth and fellowship for the 54 women attending this year’s retreat. Lara Williams, our speaker, spoke on the theme “Renewed Hearts”. Her very talented friend Abby Sutton led us in worship with both familiar songs and some original compositions. While most of those attending were from St. Matthews, several women joined us from outside our church as well. Good food, sound teaching and uplifting worship
among sisters in Christ made for a very special day. Our next retreat is tentatively set for Sat. April 28, 2012, mark your calendars!
